Altrua Lenaii always loved her people, but hated the crown. She waited for the day when she could take it from her corrupt uncle and fix his mistakes. When she is driven from her homeland, Altrua hides from her uncle in the Celestian Army, making friends with an amnesiac she met on the boat ride across the sea, and the daughter of a Celestian general. Despite her hiding place, her Uncle is close on her trail, and Tru has to make a choice that affects herself, her friends, her home, and the people that she took refuge among.
“The walls of the temple were silent, the polished stone echoing the sounds of nature’s morning. Inside, everything was as still as the grave. It was these mornings that Anely relished most- an opportunity to listen to the world outside- to hear the forest whisper before the soldier’s yells overtook the quiet conversation between the pines and the river outside.
All her life, she’d lived on these grounds. She knew the sound of the trees in every type of season and weather. She knew that the river ran high in the spring and dulled down in the summer droughts. Yet, she’d never seen these things. These experiences existed mainly in the rustles of branches and the excited burble of a stream.
But Anely didn’t leave. She didn’t want to get sick.” -Celestia, Ch. 1.
This is a book that I have co-wrote with one of my best friends, and has been one of my longest-standing projects. It will likely be my first up for publication, even if we don’t have a solid name yet.
